James P. Doyle
Partner
Jim Doyle practices primarily in the areas of patent, trademark and complex litigation, including chemical supply contracts and products liability. Mr. Doyle has an active intellectual property counseling practice, including opinion work and patent and trademark prosecution. He is a member of the firm's BioMedical Practice Group.
Mr. Doyle's patent litigation experience includes representation of ExxonMobil Chemical Co., BASF Corporation, Emerson Process Management (Rosemount), Purdue Pharma, Mylan Laboratories and Boehringer-Ingelheim Corporation (Roxane Laboratories, Ben Venue, and Bedford Laboratories), Actavis Inc. and Mutual Pharmaceutical Co. A significant portion of his practice involves the defense of generic pharmaceutical companies in patent infringement actions brought pursuant to the Hatch-Waxman Act. Representative examples of products involved in other patent cases include polyolefins, polymeric films, and polyurethane foams, low-power microwave radar devices, medical devices, sportswear and cosmetic products.
Mr. Doyle's litigation practice also includes trademark and copyright actions and many areas of complex litigation, including products liability, FDA matters, unfair competition and false advertising. He has handled trademark cases for a major software company and products liability cases for Yamaha Motor. His counseling practice includes working closely with clients to design and implement intellectual property strategies, including designing around patents and implementing patent protection strategies. He provides opinion and clearance services, and prosecutes patent and trademark applications and litigates interference proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
