During his five years with the Commission, Adam reviewed HSR filings; initiated full-phase investigations; drafted, issued, and negotiated Subpoenas, and Civil Investigative Demands; negotiated settlement agreements; and drafted recommendation memoranda to the Commission.   While in the Mergers II Division, Adam was responsible for reviewing and evaluating transactions affecting a broad range of goods and services.  Markets and industries investigated by Adam include the production and distribution of semiconductors; computer software; B2B information technologies; industrial piping; construction; plastics and petrochemicals; glassware; tobacco; a variety of consumer goods and home-electronics; automotive parts; metal alloys and superalloys; and commercial and military aerospace products.

While at the FTC, Adam also successfully presented and defended several recommendations to FTC Commissioners and their staffs.  In 2006, Adam lead the FTC’s review of a proposed merger involving two large defense contractors.  As part of that review, Adam coordinated the FTC’s investigation with that of the Department of Defense and worked closely with the FTC’s Office of Congressional Relations to brief the staff of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights.
