We regularly interact with and appear before a number of federal agencies including the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, which houses the agency’s Divisions of Advertising Practices, Marketing Practices, Financial Practices and Privacy and Identity Protection; the Food and Drug Administration; the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control; the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Information and Security; the State Department’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls; and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.  We also deal regularly with the U.S. Justice Department and with states’ attorneys general.

Members of the practice guide clients through internal investigations, disclosures to government agencies, agency investigations and litigation.  We also help our clients avoid those situations by designing and helping to implement compliance programs and providing highly experienced and practical counseling.

Regular counseling relationships can be established in various ways to afford clients predictability in legal expenses and to encourage client compliance personnel to seek legal counsel where needed without undue concern for cost.  AVH seeks to “team” with our clients to help them develop a pragmatic approach that results in compliance with applicable requirements while accommodating the realities of our clients’ businesses.
