AV&H's Denise Zamore Awarded the 2009 Judge Maxwell Heiman Memorial Award
On April 7, 2009, AVH senior associate Denise Zamore received the 2009 Judge Maxwell Heiman Memorial Award, presented to an outstanding lawyer in his or her first ten years of practice by the Hartford County Bar Association. The award was presented at the Bar Association’s annual meeting at The Hartford Golf Club in West Hartford, Connecticut.
Recipients exemplify high standards of service, ethics, scholarship and devotion to clients, which were hallmarks of Judge Heiman's professional career as a lawyer and judge.
Denise has been a Big Sister in the Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hartford, and she is also active in the Hartford Junior League, where she has aided in purchasing, organizing and storing food and supplies for weekly distribution to needy students at the Martin Luther King Elementary School in Hartford. She also assisted in raising funds for abused and neglected girls and women in Hartford.
A senior associate in our Complex Litigation Group, Denise created on her own initiative and chairs the firm’s Women Lawyers Group that addresses concerns of women lawyers. She also chairs our Associates Committee that provides a forum for our associates to discuss their professional and personal issues, and Denise then communicates with a partner liaison.
Denise serves as an editorial board member and Web Editor of the ABA Section of Litigation Minority Trial Lawyers Newsletter. She graduated from Georgetown University in 1996 and from Columbia University School of Law in 1999. She clerked for the Hon. Donald L. Graham of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida from 2002 to 2004. Denise is admitted to practice in Connecticut, New York, and Florida.
